Two & Two Together

A comedy by Derek Benfield.

Performed by BATS at St. Teilo’s Church Hall, Bishopston on November 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th & 27th, 2010.

Synopsis (from Samuel French)

Rachel and Georgina are two good friends living in the same street. Rachel uses Georgina’s house for an assignation!! Things get somewhat confusing, however, as Rachel’s husband also has eyes for someone – close to home. The local Neighbourhood Watch busybody and a very observant cleaning lady ensure everyone is kept on their toes whilst trying to hide the truth. Misassumptions abound to hilarious effect: 2 & 2 certainly add up to more than 4!

Director’s Note

“Welcome to our November production, and yes, my first attempt at directing! Who would have thought, when I agreed to help out by taking a small acting part in 1992, persuaded of course by Dorothy Morris (only as a one off favour, mind you), that I would still be involved all these years later….. with the audiences remaining loyal – sorry, surviving! – throughout.

“I hope you enjoy my choice of play. Derek Benfield was a prolific writer, but is probably better known to you as an actor, and played Hetty Wainthrop’s screen husband in the Hetty Wainthrop Investigates series. The cast have had great fun rehearsing the play, and we hope we can convey this humour and enjoyment to you, our audience.”
