Director’s Note
Welcome to our Spring production of 2012. This year marks our 45th year as a society, a truly momentous achievement for a purely voluntary group. Having been involved with the BATS for 28 years I have seen a vast array of changes both in people and production and yet the constant support and hard work BATS gets from everyone involved both on stage and off never ceases to amaze me. I would like to thank everyone who has helped put together ‘Allo ‘Allo.
‘Allo ‘Allo is a comedy based on the highly successful TV series that ran for 9 series. It brings together all the favourite characters from the show and typifies British comedy in its ability to find the funny in the face of extreme tragic times. I hope you enjoy the play as much as we have enjoyed making it and, if you do, please let your friends and relations know what they are missing. If you have any comments at all, good or bad, please let any of us know or put your comments on the website.
This year also marked the departure from the Society of Dave Spear. Dave has been involved with the BATS for 33 years and has acted and directed in over 30 plays. I have personally known Dave for 30 years where I first met him as my teacher in Bishopston Comprehensive School. We all wish him the best in his thespian ‘retirement’ and want to let him know he will be sorely missed.
